Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. Purchases Forty 2008 International Pro-Star Trucks - 10/15/2009

In an effort to continue moving forward with their Green Initiative, Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. has purchased forty 2008 International Pro-Star Tractors. Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. had purchased sixty two 2008 Freightliner Colombia tractors in October of 2008. The newest addition of the Pro-Star trucks brings Duncan’s 2008 tractors total to 102, making Duncan’s over the road fleet totally Green compliant with the standards of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach through 2012.

The Port of Long Beach launched a Clean Truck Program that will reduce air pollution from harbor trucks by more than 80 percent by 2012.

Beginning October 1, 2008, 1988 and older trucks were banned. Beginning January 1, 2010, 1993 and older trucks will be banned, and 1994-2003 trucks will need to be retrofitted or replaced. The program progressively bans all trucks that don't meet 2007 emission standards by 2012.

At its one-year anniversary, the Port of Long Beach Clean Trucks Program is on track to nearly achieve its goal of an 80 percent reduction in diesel truck pollution, two years ahead of schedule. The Port's Clean Trucks Program started with the aim of dramatically slashing by 2012 air pollution from the thousands of trucks that haul cargo containers to and from Port shipping terminals. The centerpiece of the program is a progressive ban to phase out the oldest, highest-polluting trucks in favor of trucks that meet tough 2007 federal emission standards.
