Workshop Tomorrow, May 11, for $5 million in Grants Schools and related sites eligible for Port Grant Program The next community workshop for schools and related sites to learn how to apply to the Port of Long Beach Grant Program will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at the Long Beach Main Library. The schools grants are part of the Port Grant Programs, which are designed to address community health impacts from port-related air and noise pollution. Applications and information are available at www.polb.com/grants. The deadline to submit completed applications is June 14. The Port is holding a series of workshops to help those interested in applying. The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has designated $5 million for the fund covering schools and related sites, such as day-care facilities. There are two other grant programs, also with $5 million each, which will be launched at later dates.
