  • In order to measure the environmental performance of our existing fleet operations we have partnered with SmartWay a national organization through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • To improve the environmental performance of our operations we:
    • Recycle tires, reuse carcasses, recycle scrap paper, and scrap metal and aluminum
    • Have taken delivery on 160+ 2008 and 2009 compliant GREEN TRUCKS which are the basis of our “Green Fleet”
    • Have phased out nearly all 2005 and 2006 model trucks
    • Will have 275+ 2008, 2009, 2010 model trucks
    • Use TriPac Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s) in all compliant GREEN TRUCKS to further increase fuel economy while parked instead of idling
    • Using low wattage fluorescent and CFL bulbs in company lighting
    • Have formed a Green Initiative Committee to keep abreast of all new technologies
    • Are developing a GREEN TRUCK lease-to-purchase program for Independent Contractors
    • Have been able to find grant money to help develop green solutions for our fleet as a member of Cascade Sierra Solutions
    • Learn about innovative solutions and technology as a member of West Coast Collaborative
    • Attended Faster Freight – Cleaner Air California to learn about solutions and resources to improve operations and reduce air emissions
    • Use Low Rolling Resistant tires which promise to deliver fuel efficiency and weight savings
    • Treat waste water from truck washing bay
    • Recycling oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, antifreeze, solvent, degreaser and refrigerant
    • Drive company vehicles powered by alternative fuel
    • Initiated a company wide "plant a tree campaign"
    • Increased fuel economy by over 10% and have increased the safe operation of our trucks by regulating maximum truck speed companywide to 64MPH with a 1MPH incentive for use of cruise control which further increased fuel economy
  • We are on the forefront and are an industry leader in achieving the clean air environmental goals of the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach as well as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and all other state and federal clean air regulations.
    • The components of this plan include currently purchasing ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel which reduces PPM Sulfur from 500 PPM to 15PPM
    • Purchasing newer model trucks that reduce particulate matter by 90% and phasing out older models
    • Exploring pollution controls for our existing fleet
    • Continually looking for ways to improve our operations in such a way to benefit the environment
