Duncan and Son was founded in Buckeye, Arizona, in 1943 by Mr. Richard Duncan to haul cotton and produce throughout the Southwest portion of the United States. Today, it still remains a family owned and operated business, with Mr. Rick Duncan III as president.

For over 60 years, we have provided superior service to our customers and have assisted them in achieving their goals.

In 1943 Richard Blaine Duncan Sr. (Blaine) decided to enter into the trucking business. He started out with two flatbed trucks and hauled hay and grain. In 1944 he purchased the lot Duncan is currently doing business on and, with the help of his father and brothers, started construction on the homes the Duncan’s currently live in. Permits were required to operate before deregulation and Blaine’s first permit allowed him to operate within a 25 mile radius of the center of Buckeye. By the 1950’s Blaine had acquired a permit to haul anything within the state of Arizona. This permit was worth a quarter of a million dollars. Cotton and Ore comprised a large portion of Blaine’s business.

In 1974 when Richard Blaine Duncan Jr. (Richard) took the reigns, Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. was running around 70 trucks. By 1980 deregulation occurred and Duncan is very proud to be one of the few trucking companies who made it through this change. Richard decided Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. would begin hauling ocean containers from the west coast to Phoenix. This would become Duncan and Son’s specialization along with cotton.

Rick took over operations of Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. in 1997 when Richard retired. As of 2003 Rick is proud to report that Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. runs 100 company owned vehicles. The office was recently expanded to triple its size in 2002. Due to tremendous growth in the ocean container industry, Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. currently specializes in import and export ocean container cargo delivery to and from the west coast harbor. R.B. Duncan and Son Lines, Inc. specializes in cotton and squash transport.

Rick’s goals for the company are to remain flexible and to provide a good service, traits that have kept Duncan and Son in business for the past 60 years. Rick currently spends a majority of his time managing the growth of the company. He looks forward to passing on a successful organization to future generations so he can retire.
